Captain Phillip Calvert 
Captain Phillip Calvert is the Assistant Director - Service Bureau for the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board's Law Enforcement Division. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Management of Human Resources and a Master of Science in Management from Faulkner University, Montgomery, Alabama.
Phillip has over twenty years of law enforcement experience with the Hanceville, Alabama, Police Department, Cullman County, Alabama, Sheriff's Department, and Alabama ABC Enforcement. Phillip is active in the development and implementation of training and computer technology within ABC Enforcement. Phillip is the Founder and Administrator of AlaCop, a free email listserver which has served as an on-line communications tool for the law enforcement community since 1997. Phillip has served as the Alabama proxy to the Board of Directors for the Regional Organized Crime Information Center located in Nashville, Tennessee since 2002. Additionally, Phillip served from 1999 through 2002 on the faculty of Troy University - Dothan as an adjunct instructor in the College of Business Administration.
Lt. Tommy Carswell 
Tommy Carswell began his law enforcement career in 1981 at the Lee County, Alabama Sheriff's Department before joining the City of Auburn, Alabama Police Department in 1988. Currently, he is a supervisor in the department's vice and narcotics unit.
While serving the Lee County Sheriff, Tommy's assignments included the jail/ communications division, District Attorney's Child Support Division, and patrol division. Prior to his current assignment with the City of Auburn, he was assigned to the agency's detective section and patrol section, where he served as a field training officer and as a shift supervisor.
Tommy holds Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Southern Union State Junior College, Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Criminal Justice from Faulkner University, and he is a member of Faulkner University's AWA chapter of the Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society. He is a graduate of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College class XV and currently is working toward completion of a Master of Public Administration degree at Columbus State University.
Mr. Billy Duckett 
Billy Duckett is currently the Director of the Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy at Jacksonville State University. He has over 25 years of law enforcement experience to include service as a patrol Sgt. at Albertville, Police Department, Deputy Chief at Boaz Police Department,and 14 years as a Alabama State Trooper. While with the State Troopers he served as a Highway Patrolman, Public Information Officer, Staff Instructor at the Trooper Academy and later served in Executive Security.
Billy is a gradate of the 216th Session of the F.B.I. National Academy. He has an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Gadsden State Jr. College and a BS Degree in Criminal Justice from Jacksonville State University.
Billy served 30 years active and reserve in the U.S. Marines. He is a Persian Gulf veteran and retired in 2003 as a Sgt. Maj. He and his wife Melanie currently reside in Alexandria and they have two daughters.
Ms. Therese Ford 
Therese Ford has over 27 years experience in the criminal justice field. During her twenty-five years with the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center (ACJIC) she managed the Alabama Uniform Crime Reporting Program and the Statistical Analysis Center. She was also responsible for writing federal and state grants for ACJIC and is an experienced grant writer/developer for law enforcement programs. She received an appointment as the first Executive Director of the Law Enforcement Systems Integration and Standards (LESIS), which was created to develop standards and a sharing and data integration system for law enforcement and criminal justice professionals.
She has developed training programs for law enforcement and taught in-house training sessions as well as at several of the regional police academies across Alabama. She is POST certified instructor and has taught classes in the Criminal Justice and the Legal Studies programs at Faulkner University in Montgomery. She also taught at Huntingdon College in their paralegal program.
Ms. Ford received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Auburn University at Montgomery in 1974. She received a Juris Doctor from Jones School of Law in 1994. Lt. Kirk Giles 
Kirk Giles is a 29 year veteran of the Huntsville Police Department and is currently the Training Director of the Huntsville Police Academy. His previous assignments have included Precinct Shift Commander, Criminal Investigations, Narcotics, Traffic, and Patrol.
Kirk is a graduate of the 212th Session of the F.B.I. National Academy. In 2004 Kirk was awarded the Officer of the Year by the Optimist Club. Kirk has a BS degree in Criminal Justice from Jacksonville State University and a MS degree in Justice and Public Safety from Auburn University at Montgomery. Kirk is also an Adjunct Professor at Faulkner University. Kirk is married and has three children age 9, 17 and 22.
Dr. Lou Harris 
Lou is currently chair of the Criminal Justice and Legal Studies Department at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama. He created the department in 1993 with 10 students which has grown to about 240 students in 2005. He holds a Master of Science degree in criminal justice (TSUM) and the Doctor of Public Administration from The University of Alabama.
After serving four years in the U.S. Navy during the 1960s, he joined the FBI as a Special Agent. He retired in 1993 with 25 years of experience as an investigator, police instructor, and relief supervisor. He was assigned to the Yakima Indian Reservation for 11 years where he worked a variety of personal and property crimes. He has been an APOST-certified instructor since 1987.
He is currently a board member of the Alabama Sentencing Commission, past president of the Montgomery Chapter of CrimeStoppers, reporter for the Governor's Task Force on Prison Overcrowding and secretary of the Montgomery Chapter of ASIS (a private security professional association).
Mr. Roger Humber 
Roger H. Humber, M.S., is Deputy Director for the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center (ACJIC), Montgomery, Alabama.
He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Justice and Public Safety from Auburn University at Montgomery. Director Humber has worked in the Criminal Justice profession for over 25 years. During this time, he has investigated a variety of offenses including arson cases, homicide investigations and an assortment of property and white-collar crimes.
Roger has conducted numerous classes over the years, training many criminal justice officials in diverse topics, such as, Administrator Responsibilities, Policy and Procedural topics and other in-service and academic courses. He is certified as an instructor by the Alabama Police Officer Standards and Training (APOST).
Roger has been an adjunct instructor with Faulkner University, Montgomery, Alabama, since 1997, where he teaches undergraduate students in the Criminal Justice curriculum.
Mr. John Mulligan 
John Mulligan has forty years of law enforcement experience in the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Alabama Attorney General's Office. He has conducted investigations of organized crime, public corruption and white-collar crime and judicial inquiries. While in the FBI he also served as a police instructor, Field Relief Supervisor and as an assessor in the FBI New Agent Selection System.
He holds a BA Degree in Criminology from the University of Maryland and is a Certified Fraud Examiner. He has conducted training in the use of computer databases in the Attorney General's Office and is a regular presenter at the Center for Government Services, Auburn University.
John is an active member of his church and has been commissioned as a lay minister through the Toolen Institute of Parish Services, Archdiocese of Mobile.
Jim Rechel 
Jim is president of The Rechel Group, Inc., a risk-consulting firm headquartered in Cincinnati, OH. He is on the board of The Institute for Criminal Justice Education, a member of numerous national organizations, and is a certified financial security officer. He is a past local board member of the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators Association and the American Society of Industrial Security.
Prior to working for The Rechel Group, Inc, Rechel was vice president for Fifth Third Bank headquartered in Cincinnati, where he held positions in various departments, including Retail and Lending, and Security Director.
Rechel received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Cincinnati in 1982. He graduated from the FBI Academy in 1985 and was a special agent with the FBI in Selma, Alabama, for three years. Over the last 15 years, he has conducted workshops and seminars for more than 1000 professional organizations, and over 75,000 individuals.
His workshops are both energetic and informative, with practical applications and solutions for business and law enforcement professionals. His work has been highlighted in both local and national publications, including CEO Magazine, Cincinnati Enquirer, USA Today, and CNBC.
Lynn Shobe 
Lynn Shobe, CFE, is the Senior Resident Agent, Birmingham, Alabama, with the United States Treasury Department, Office of Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Tennessee at Martin, and an Master of Arts in Management from Webster University, St Louis, Missouri.
Lynn has over thirty years of law enforcement experience including eight years at the local level, and over five in the U.S. Army. Before assuming his present position he served as Chief, Economic and Computer Crime Branch, U.S. Army Military Police School, Ft McClellan, Alabama. Continuing his military service in the U.S. Army Reserve, Lynn retired as a Major in 1998 having served as Operations Officer and Deputy Commander, U.S. Army Criminal Investigations Laboratory, Ft. Gillem, Georgia. Additionally, Lynn has served on the faculty of Faulkner University as an adjunct instructor in the Criminal Justice program since 1995 and is certified as a police instructor by the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission.
Lynn is a frequent presenter to in-service and police academy groups around the country on such topics as internal investigations, identity theft, telemarketing fraud, federal law enforcement agencies, and “Law Enforcement Officers Flying Armed.” He is past President and current Training Director for the Alabama Chapter of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Lynn is active is his church where he serves as deacon and worship service coordinator.
Major R. D. Stuart 
Mr. R. D. Stuart began is career in law enforcement with the Montgomery Police Department in 1986. He progressed through the ranks serving in the Narcotics and Intelligence Division, Traffic Division, Patrol Division, Records and Communications Division and the Administrative Division. His final assignment was as major/division commander of the Records and Communications Division. In 2004 he was promoted by Mayor Bobby Bright to serve as the department head of the City's newly created Department of Communications. The Department of Communications is responsible for supporting all telecommunications, radio and radio data functions of city government, E-9-1-1 operations and public safety dispatch.
Mr. Stuart is an experienced planner and project manager for complex technology initiatives in public safety. He holds a BS and MS in Justice and Public Safety from Auburn University at Montgomery and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Mr. Stuart is an adjunct instructor of criminal justice at a local university and is certified by the Alabama Police Officer Standards and Training (APOST) as an Instructor in Alabama's Police Academies.
Major Stuart is a member of the Young Montgomery Business Club, and Leadership Montgomery, Class XVI.
Robert T. Thetford
Bob Thetford has over twenty-five years' experience as a prosecutor, Special Agent and Division Legal Counsel with the FBI. A native of Montgomery, Alabama, and a member of the Alabama Bar, he has provided legal advice and instruction to a variety of federal and state agencies since returning to Alabama in 1984.
In addition to investigating political corruption, white collar crime and terrorism cases, he worked as a Certified Police Instructor, Legal Instructor, Government Mediator, and was a Field Relief Supervisor for over ten years.
He is currently employed as an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice at Faulkner University (teaching courses on Terrorism, Computer Crime, Leadership and Constitutional Law), an instructor with the Alabama Department of Public Safety, a guest lecturer at the U.S. Air War College, and practices law in Montgomery, specializing in mediation procedures and consulting for police agencies and private industry. He is the author/co-author of 5 books and numerous published articles.
Bob is an elder and Sunday School teacher in his church and is a certified Christian Conciliator, providing biblically-based mediation services and training for churches, companies and individuals.
Chief Louis Zook 
Louis Zook began his law enforcement career in 1980 with the Talladega County Sheriff's Department where he served as a Deputy Sheriff. In 1984, Louis moved to the Sylacauga Police Department where he served in various assignments including patrol, investigation and supervision. In 1995, he was appointed as the Chief of Police for the City of Sylacauga.
Louis is a graduate of the Alabama Police Academy, Southeastern Law Enforcement Executive Seminar (SLEDS) and the 169th Session of the FBI National Academy. He has attended the University of Virginia, Central Alabama Community College and Gadsden State Community College. He is an AACOP Certified Police Chief (CPC) and has received over 2700 hours of advanced law enforcement training during his career. He currently serves as an adjunct instructor for Alabama Association Chiefs of Police, Alabama League of Municipalities, and Gulf States Regional Center for Public Safety Innovations.
Louis is a member of various professional organizations, including Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police where he has served as District Representative, Secretary, and Vice-President, He is slated to serve as the Association's President in 2006-2007.
