ICJE Free Training
Because ICJE is a nonprofit corporation, contributions to ICJE are tax-deductible for both individuals and corporations (corporations can deduct up to 10% of their taxable income to qualified, tax-exempt organizations).
While ICJE has been in existence since the end of 1998, the directors/officers have a combined total of over seventy years' experience as law enforcement trainers and administrators, and have taught literally thousands of federal and state officers throughout the United States. Through affiliation with Faulkner University, Montgomery, Alabama, contact has been maintained with and services provided to departments all over Alabama.
The Plan
If your department will provide ICJE with a select list of likely contributors in your area, these individuals/corporations will be contacted and donations solicited to defray the cost of the training (the average donation is $100-$400). It would be helpful if the companies have agreed in advance to sponsor the courses. Training by Alabama POST certified instructors can be provided based upon the contribution rate of $500.00 per class, with each class being three hours in length. A full twelve hours of training can be obtained for $2,000.00. This cost includes all instructor fees, expenses and administrative costs, with the only cost to the hosting agency being that of copying the handouts.
The advantages to area companies should be obvious: support of local law enforcement while receiving a tax deduction for their contributions. Smaller departments can pool resources with neighboring departments in order to cover the expense. Many of our courses have a seminar format, so thirty to forty participants can be accommodated. Depending upon the contributions received, all or part of a department's yearly training needs can be met. Of course, your department will be responsible for securing a suitable training site and for determining the best times and dates for the training.
Specifics
See Current ICJE Courses (click above) for a current list of ICJE courses being taught by our core instructor group. In addition, ICJE has a number of POST certified instructors on call throughout Alabama who are qualified to teach a wide variety of subjects. We recognize that not all departments have the same training needs, so if your department seeks training in any specific area, we will provide an instructor qualified in that area. You will therefore be able to choose not only the date, time and location of the training, but also the specific topics your officers will receive. ICJE trained over 400 federal, state and local officers in Alabama last year. Our goal is to train over 1,000 officers this year.
